TECHNICAL SERVICES
Maintenance, Refits & System Upgrades
Technical Philosophy
Soluna provides structured technical support for both private and charter yachts, focused on maintaining system reliability and long-term operational performance.
Modern yachts depend on increasingly sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and digital systems. Maintaining reliability requires more than occasional servicing – it requires a structured technical approach to maintenance, diagnostics, and system management.
Soluna approaches technical work with an engineering mindset. Systems are assessed carefully, equipment is specified correctly, and installations are coordinated with experienced technicians and established suppliers to ensure work is carried out in accordance with manufacturer specifications and recognised marine standards.
By managing maintenance, refits, and system upgrades in a structured way, Soluna helps reduce equipment failures, minimise operational downtime, and ensure vessels remain reliable for both cruising and charter operations.
Experienced Hands.
Complex Systems.
Reliable Performance.
Charter yachts operate on demanding schedules where system reliability is essential. Mechanical failures, electrical faults, or poorly planned maintenance can quickly disrupt operations and impact the guest experience.
Technical excellence is therefore a critical part of successful charter operations. Well-maintained systems, properly planned servicing, and carefully executed installations allow crews to focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences rather than managing avoidable technical problems.
Soluna approaches technical work with this operational mindset, ensuring vessels remain reliable, efficient, and ready to perform throughout the charter season.
Core Technical Services
Soluna provides technical support across all major onboard systems, combining structured maintenance planning, diagnostics, and complex equipment installations.
Procurement & Logistics
Procuring marine equipment often involves coordinating multiple manufacturers, distributors, and international shipping routes. Soluna manages the entire process — from sourcing equipment through established supplier relationships to arranging procurement, shipping, customs clearance, and final delivery.
Our supplier relationships and logistics experience allow equipment to be sourced competitively and delivered efficiently, even when coordinating international shipments and complex installations.
By coordinating the full supply chain, we help owners and captains avoid the complexity of international purchasing while ensuring equipment is sourced competitively and delivered efficiently. Components are specified carefully, shipped through trusted logistics channels, and prepared for installation so technical projects can proceed without unnecessary delays.
Systems Diagnostics
When technical faults occur, rapid diagnosis is essential to restoring systems and preventing further failures. Soluna provides practical diagnostic support across mechanical, electrical, and onboard systems, helping captains quickly identify the source of a problem and determine the most effective solution.
Captains contact us directly when problems occur, and we make ourselves available to provide immediate guidance where possible. In many cases, early diagnostics and technical advice can resolve the issue without the need for further intervention.
Rapid response and practical troubleshooting are central to how Soluna supports vessels in operation.
Where further work is required, Soluna sources the necessary components, coordinates technicians, and attends the vessel to restore systems to full operation as quickly as possible
Surveys & Inspections
Soluna coordinates technical surveys and inspections and acts as the primary point of contact between owners, captains, and accredited marine surveyors.
We assist in preparing the vessel from a technical perspective prior to inspection, ensuring systems are accessible, documentation is organised, and the vessel is ready for survey.
Careful preparation and clear technical communication help ensure inspections proceed efficiently and surveyors can assess the vessel accurately.
By managing the logistics and technical coordination of the process, Soluna helps owners obtain clear and reliable assessments aligned with the objectives of the survey.
Preventative Maintenance
Reliable yacht operation depends on structured maintenance planning rather than reactive repairs. Soluna coordinates preventative maintenance programs designed to keep critical onboard systems operating reliably throughout the season.
This includes organising scheduled servicing and ensuring vessels are stocked with essential service components for key systems, typically planning six-month maintenance cycles for engines, generators, watermakers, air-conditioning systems, and other onboard equipment.
Regular system assessments help identify equipment approaching service or replacement intervals before failures occur.
System age, operating hours, and overall condition are reviewed to determine when major components should be serviced or replaced, while redundancy requirements are assessed to ensure vessels maintain reliable backup capability for critical systems.
Yard Period Coordination
Annual yard periods provide a critical opportunity to complete maintenance, repairs, and system improvements while the vessel is out of operation. Careful planning and active oversight are essential to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
Soluna coordinates yard periods from initial planning through completion, organising maintenance schedules, contractor access, equipment deliveries, and technical work lists ahead of the haul-out.
Soluna maintains direct managing partner involvement throughout the yard period to ensure work progresses efficiently and technical decisions can be made quickly.
This active oversight ensures maintenance is completed correctly while identifying opportunities to upgrade or improve onboard systems during the yard period.
Refits & System Upgrades
Major system upgrades and equipment replacements require careful planning to ensure new installations integrate correctly with the vessel’s existing mechanical and electrical systems. Soluna provides technical leadership and coordination for complex installations and refit projects.
Our team has extensive experience delivering major system upgrades across a wide range of yachts. Projects have included lithium battery conversions, engine and generator replacements, watermaker installations, air-conditioning system upgrades, hydraulic systems, tender lift installations, and inboard & jet tender systems.
Strong electrical and mechanical expertise allows complex upgrades to be implemented reliably while maintaining the integrity of the vessel’s existing systems.
By coordinating equipment suppliers, technicians, and installation schedules, Soluna ensures upgrades are installed correctly and commissioned for reliable long-term operation.
